Description

President Harry S. Truman's address at the dedication of the Arnold Engineering Development Center. The national anthem and other music follow President Harry S. Truman's address. The President spoke at 12 p.m. In his opening words he referred to Governor Gordon Browning of Tennessee; Maj. Gen. Franklin O. Carroll, Director, Research and Development, Air Material Command; Representative Joseph L. Evins and Senator Estes Kefauver, both of Tennessee; and Eleanor Beatrice “Bee” Pool Arnold, widow of General of the Air Force Henry H. (Hap) Arnold, in whose honor the center was named. The address was broadcast. Recorded in two parts.
