The President spoke at 12 p.m. In his opening words he referred to Governor Gordon Browning of Tennessee; Maj. Gen. Franklin O. Carroll, Director, Research and Development, Air Material Command; Representative Joseph L. Evins and Senator Estes Kefauver, both of Tennessee; and Eleanor Beatrice “Bee” Pool Arnold, widow of General of the Air Force Henry H. (Hap) Arnold, in whose honor the center was named.
